Stéphane Gilli after the Nice draw: "This result is deserved – it shows the group's character"

Following Paris FC's hard-earned point at the Allianz Riviera (1-1), manager Stéphane Gilli shared his thoughts in the post-match press conference. The Parisian coach emphasised his team's collective response after a difficult start, as well as the importance of his substitute players.

A tough start, quickly corrected

"We had a difficult opening twenty minutes. Nice put us under pressure, but it was also down to what we'd set up tactically. Our line was too high, there was space in midfield. So when they came at us, we didn't have many solutions," Gilli admitted.

However, the Paris coach highlighted his team's ability to adjust: "We tried to make changes and things improved a bit. We had a few chances in the first half. I think we can do better, but what I liked was the reaction."

Greater control after the break

In the second half, Paris FC showed a much more convincing face: "We were far more dominant, with better collective control. We won the ball back higher up the pitch, we pushed forward more. We also corrected an important tactical point at half-time regarding their width in attack, which had really troubled us in the first period."

The character of a united group

Beyond Jean-Philippe Kraso's penalty equaliser, Gilli was keen to highlight his squad's mentality: "What's good is that it shows this team's character, because we often find ourselves behind. Whatever happens, you can see it's not just about the starting eleven. I want to stress that this is a group effort. The substitutes last week, like Alimani Gory and Nouha Dicko who scored, and today Kraso, show that everyone's involved. That's how we'll manage to perform."

The match interruption? Not helpful

Asked about the stoppage around the 80th minute due to homophobic chanting from the stands, the coach was clear: "For me, it was more disruptive than anything because we were in a good spell. I was worried it would break our rhythm. So no, I don't think it helped us, even though we scored afterwards."

A team that learns quickly

This draw at Nice – Paris FC's first of the season – confirms the promoted side's progress. Despite individual errors that need addressing, the Parisian group shows real strength of character. An encouraging sign at the start of a campaign where every point will matter.
